Sapona Plastics is promoting Sandra Lail from VP of Sales to President. Sandra has been with the company since inception and maintains close working relationships with many customers and suppliers. She has excelled in many areas of the company and possesses the intelligence and communication skills to make pragmatic business decisions. "I expect Sandra will be a good steward of the company and act with integrity in all matters" said CEO Dean Lail during the announcement. "Her experience with outside organizations serving as president of the Society of Plastics Engineers and President of the Asheboro/Randolph YMCA has prepared her well for the leadership challenges of the position." Jack C. Lail, Sandra's father-in-law, will continue as Chairman.
Sapona Plastics is a family owned custom plastic injection molding and assembly business with two plants centrally located in North Carolina with 27 injection presses, 160 workers, and annual sales of $24 Million. Sapona serves customers in telecommunications, electrical, hand tools, consumer products, hvac, medical, and various other markets. Sapona is a UL molder with systems certified to ISO9000 and ISO14000 standards. The company was founded in 2004.

Several Sapona Plastics employees were recognized at the recent company-wide picnic and pickleball event. Dean Lail and Kim Davis presented service awards for 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 Years of service. Sandra Lail's promotion from VP of Sales to President was also announced with resounding applause from the crowd. After the ceremonies, everyone had an opportunity to try out pickleball at the Historic Lucks Cannery pickleball hall. Safety instructions were provided along with general rules and hands-on guidance from Kathryn Baker and Kay Lail on how to play. The highlight of the event was a book signing by company Chairman Jack C. Lail. Each employee received a copy of his latest book "Bethlehem to Seagrove".
Sapona will hold a company wide event on Monday, April 20th, from 12:30-3:30 at the Historic Lucks Cannery. Plants will be shut down temporarily and lunch will be provided followed by recognition of employees with milestone career service. Jack C. Lail will be on hand to sign complimentary copies of his new book Bethlehem to Seagrove. T-shirts and a $60 bonus will be paid to all employees. A group photo is planned marking the 22nd anniversary of Sapona Plastics. Pickleball intro lessons will be hosted by Dean and Kay Lail, and Kathryn Baker. A concluding pickleball contest will be held. Employees are urged to participate in this easy physical activity to improve health and well being while promoting interaction with coworkers and the community.
The Seagrove YMCA pickleball facility is open to the public Fri. 4-8, Sat. 4-7, and Sun.1-5 PM. An upcoming doubles-only tournament is scheduled by Uwharrie Charter at the Cannery on May 9th, 9:00-4:00, deadline is April 24th.
