Sapona Plastics has pledged to invest $25,000 with the Randolph County EDC for economic development over 5 years.  The mission of the Randolph County Economic Development Corporation (RCEDC) is to support a growing healthy economy so that residents have a diversity of quality job opportunities through the attraction of new businesses to the area and the retention and expansion of existing business and
industry. RCEDC also seeks to influence the local economy through positive actions that lead to
continuous improvement in the business environment facilitating the profitable operation of business and industry.

One of the greatest competitive advantages of building a business in Randolph County is our people. A strong work ethic runs throughout this community. We know what it means to work hard and to make things with our hands because that is what we have been doing for generations. And now, we are actively finding ways to carry our strengths forward into the future in exciting, profitable, and meaningful ways.

Sapona Plastics was recognized in 2023 as outstanding Industry by the RCEDC and Industry of the Year announced in 2024 by the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce.

Sapona hosts Celebration of Seagrove Area Potters

Each year for several years Sapona Plastics provided 30,000 Sq.Ft. of space for the annual Pottery Show in Seagrove.  Nearly 50 potters participate with beautiful, artistic creations and traditional pottery set up in booths.  Around 5000 people attended the multi-day event.  Work started at Sapona weeks in advance to clear the space, prepare the grounds, and coordinate with the event planners and artist to move in thousands of fragile pieces of pottery.  We did this while not missing any order shipments.

Sapona Plastics supports United Way

Sapona Plastics supports new Community Center

Sapona Plastics is donating the historic Luck's cannery facility to the Town of Seagrove for a community center.   CEO Jack Lail is helping raise $450K to fix up the building.  See the website for more information at luckscannery.weebly.com.
The center will benefit the thriving hand-made pottery tradition in Seagrove, NC providing a multi-use space for locals and tourists that visit over 80 area potteries. Sapona Plastics has hosted an annual celebration of Seagrove Potters in its warehouse facility at the site for several years.  Due to growth and new jobs Lail has decided to provide a separate 90,000 Sq.Ft. facility so the potters will have a permanent venue for sharing their art that will also serve as an entrepreneurial incubator for businesses and space for other community purposes including a town hall and police department. The unique building dates back as far as 1947 and the Seagrove pottery tradition dates back over 100 years. Pintos, pottery and plastics have been a part of Seagrove for many years.  This is an opportunity to support cultural arts, community development, economic growth and historic preservation.
Jack Lail originally got involved in plastics in the 60's with GE and in the early 70's when he formed Mid-State Plastics.  That business led to additional joint ventures with 3 other plastics companies before being sold in 1994.  Sapona Plastics was formed in 2004.
