4-20-24  Sapona Plastics was formed as a joint venture in 2004 with Sapona Manufacturing Co. Inc., a large textile manufacturer in the same county.  The business was the former Asheboro Precision Plastics that closed the week before.  Sapona has grown from 9 molding machines at that time to 26 moldings machines.  Over the early years Sapona acquired assets of Whit Corporation, Polymer Concepts and Premier Molded Plastics to build the business.  Today the company is approximately $20 Million in sales with about 130 employees.  Our chairman is Jack C. Lail, President is Dean Lail, VP is Kay Lail, VP Sales is Sandra Lail and Dean and Kay's daughter Kathryn Baker is the CFO.  Other owners include brothers Brent and Jack Lail.

Today we are celebrating with a picnic for employees and families, with door prizes and zoo tickets, photos, games and good food at the Historic Lucks Cannery.  Both plants are shut down for the day.  We appreciate all of our friends we work with and recognize those with over 5 years of service.  We also thank our customer and suppliers for their contribution to the success of the company.
