Polymer Concepts, Inc. of Randleman, NC and Sapona Plastics, LLC of Asheboro, NC are pleased to announce effective August 10, 2007 that Polymer Concepts is merging it's molding business into Sapona Plastics. The companies expect to consolidate molding operations by the end of August to the nearby 50,000 square foot Asheboro, NC location.

The owners of Polymer, Larry Draughn, president and Rickey Barker, vice president will continue in a consulting role with Sapona Plastics for a two year period. Polymer will discontinue all injection molding but will continue to perform manufacturing services at it's facility in Randleman. Polymer expects to sell off surplus molding equipment in the coming months including machines ranging in size from 55 to 350 Tons.

"The integration of the two companies provides a powerful combination of quality products, capabilities and resources for our customers" says Dean Lail, president of Sapona. "We are particularly pleased to add the patented Groomie rotating head pet brush to our line of cleaning brushes." Larry Draughn developed the unique vacuum cleaner attachment brush in 2005.

The team's years of experience, financial strength, and open communication insure that customers will continue to have a valued supplier partner for many years to come. Sapona's CEO Jack Lail, founded Mid-State Plastics in 1971. His son Dean, an engineering graduate of NC State Univ. with an M.B.A. manages the day to day operations. Sapona is a joint venture between the Lail family and Sapona Manufacturing Co. Inc., a textile yarn manufacturer founded in 1836.
