Sapona was audited by Sumerra/Elevate on 9/18/18 to evaluate environmental, safety and health aspects of our company. This audit was specifically designed to assess these aspects regarding manufacturing of branded and university licensed products as required by our customer. The audit is partly based on compliance with the Fair Labor Association Code of Conduct. The auditor was impressed overall with our operation and had a few findings for improvement. We will be improving our ergonomics program and exit direction signage. Our objective is to treat all employees with the utmost respect, protecting their safety and health and ensuring satisfaction and happiness. We are also committed to protecting the environment.
Sumerra has extensive experience conducting audits on a global scale, crossing many industries. During a standard audit, Sumerra provides training and information to the factory by explaining the issues of concern, providing possible solutions, and allowing the factory the time and ability to ask questions they may have regarding the audit or other issues. Integrity, honesty and transparency are of the upmost importance to Sumerra.

Sapona Plastics completed an ISO audit 8/16/18 with no findings, upgrading our quality system certification to the ISO9001:2015 standard. We are proud of the efforts of all our employees and in particular our Quality Supervisor Cathy Goodman for the exceptional advancement forward. Our quality systems are highly effective at preventing non-conformances and supporting continuous improvement. Below is a portion of the executive summary of the audit performed by NSF.
North Carolina is threatened by Hurricane Florence. The storm has weakened to Category 2 and moving slowly. The track of the eye of the storm is expected to miss our location but we do expect heavy rain, wind and possible power outages. Most freight lines are holding freight today in or out of NC. We are watching the storm closely. Our thoughts are with those in more coastal regions and along rivers that are subject to flooding for their safety. We are monitoring the status of the storm. We will post any closings on WFMY News 2 and on facebook @SaponaPlastics. At this time plant 2 will close Friday, 9/14/18 at 4PM.
